Code of Conduct
Alliance Amateur Radio Network
Effective Date: March 6, 2026
Amateur radio is a hobby built on the joy of communication, experimentation, and lifelong learning. It thrives when every member feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to participate fully. This Code of Conduct reflects who we are and who we aspire to be as a community.
Our Spirit We are united by curiosity and a shared passion for radio. Whether you are a first-time listener or a seasoned operator, you belong here. The amateur radio tradition is one of openness, generosity, and mutual growth — and we carry that tradition forward together.
Respect Treat every person with dignity and genuine consideration. We do not harass, intimidate, belittle, or threaten anyone — on the air, online, or in person. Disagreement is natural and healthy; how we handle it defines our character. Critique ideas thoughtfully, never the person. Lift others up.
Diversity & Inclusion Our community is stronger because of the many different people in it. We welcome and respect members of all races, ethnicities, ages, religions, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, cultures, and backgrounds. Differences in experience and knowledge are assets, not obstacles. No one should ever feel like an outsider here.
Accessibility & Belonging We recognize that participation in this hobby is not equally easy for everyone. Some members face barriers — physical, financial, social, or otherwise — that others may not. We actively work to lower those barriers. Inclusion is not passive; it requires intention and effort from all of us. If you notice someone on the margins, extend a hand.
Language & Communication All communication — on the air, at meetings, in club channels, and in public — must be respectful and professional. Foul language, slurs, derogatory remarks, and disrespectful humor directed at any individual or group have no place in our community. This standard applies equally regardless of the medium or audience.
Constructive Dialogue We encourage robust, honest discussion. Present your perspectives clearly and passionately and be equally prepared to listen. Once a decision has been made through fair process, we move forward together — shoulder to shoulder — even if the outcome wasn’t what we individually hoped for.
Encouragement & Mentorship Be the reason someone stays in the hobby. Practice patience on the air and in person. Welcome beginners warmly, offer guidance freely, and celebrate the progress of others. The willingness to teach and to learn is the hallmark of the amateur spirit.
Loyalty to the Community Speak well of this club and its members. Support one another through challenges. Our reputation as a club is built by every one of us, in every interaction.
Balance Amateur radio enriches our lives — it does not consume them. Family, work, school, and community come first. We encourage members to engage with the hobby in ways that are sustainable and joyful.
Violations of this Code of Conduct may be reviewed by club leadership. Our goal is always resolution, growth, and the preservation of a community where everyone can thrive..
